Govt panel to look into NHM employees� woes

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the State Government would constitute a committee to work on the modalities to address the grievances of the 18 thousand National Health Mission (NHM) employees working in Assam.

According to an official press release here, while addressing the first ever convention of the NHM Employees� Association at GMCH auditorium in the city this evening, Gogoi said the demands of the employees of the NHM are high on priority and the government would explore everything possible to meet their demands.

Acknowledging the services of the NHM staff, doctors and paramedics, Gogoi said the health scenario in the State has witnessed a paradigm shift because of their untiring services. He further said that if the momentum of the advanced and accessible healthcare system is to be maintained, the welfare of the employees has to be prioritised.

Gogoi also requested the NHM employees to work for maintaining the health and hygiene of children and women in particular and other sections in general.

Outlining that the health and education are the priority areas of the government, Gogoi said his government would do everything possible for the health and education of the people of Assam.

He also released a souvenir �Ninaad� synchronising with the occasion. Earlier, former Education Minister Ripun Bora and NHM Project Director Dr P Ashok Babu also addressed the convention.
