Govt orders probe

GUWAHATI, July 13 � The State Government today constituted a one-member inquiry commission to probe into the July 9 GS Road molestation incident of a teenage girl. Additional Chief Secretary Emily Choudhury has been entrusted with the responsibility to probe into the incident and submit the report at the earliest.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the authorities concerned to take action against those involved in the incident. Gogoi said that everyone involved in this incident would be arrested and action would also be taken against those police officials who failed in their duty to protect the girl.

Meanwhile the capital city witnessed strong outpouring of anger against those involved in the incident. The Assam Public Works (APW), a non government organization launched a postering campaign in the city. Small and big banners displaying the photographs of 6 involved in the incident were hung at different points including Super Market, Radio Centre, Chandmari and the bus stops.

The BJP, Mohila Morcha took out a procession today from its State office to Dispur. The party demanded immediate arrest of all the culprits and stringent punishment for them and security for women.
