GUWAHATI, June 29 The regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today alleged that the present government in the State under the stewardship of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has opened a showroom of corruption in the name of providing appointment to the jobless people. It has also alleged that the Chief Minister is treating the State administration as his personal property.

In a statement, AGP general secretary Dr Kamala Kalita said that sensing his exit from States power centre, Gogoi has now been concentrating on collecting money in a massive way instead of serving the people. Gogoi has opened showrooms to collect lakhs of rupees from the unemployed youths in the name of providing them appointments in the government departments.

Meanwhile, allegations are there of collecting money against appointment of constables in the State Police department. Similarly, allegations of widespread corruption are also there in connection with the appointment against the 32 posts of junior assistants in the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of the State, said Dr Kalita.

The widespread corruption indulged in by the State Government has triggered abnormal rise in the prices of essential commodities and murder and violence have become a routine affair. But the State government led by Gogoi is remaining a silent spectator to all these developments, alleged Dr Kalita.

NRC: Demanding that the names of the members of the indigenous peoples of the State should be included in the updated NRC, he alleged that Chief Minister and a section of Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party have been constantly trying to deter the NRC updation process. Alleging that there is a serious conspiracy in deleting the names of the family members of two former Chief Ministers of the State, Dr Kalita blamed the Congress for this development and demanded that the updated NRC should include the names of all indigenous people of the State and it should be devoid of any foreign nationals name.
