By Correspondent

NALBARI, Aug 8 - The officiating president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Ripun Bora has said that the Kokrajhar massacre has happened since the State Government withdrew the additional security forces deployed in the insurgency-infected BTAD areas. The State Government, he said has failed to realise the gravity of insurgency problems in the BTAD.

Addressing a press conference at Nalbari on Sunday, Bora said that the inteligence agencies of the Government miserably failed to gather information in advance even as the police arrived on the spot after 45 minutes of the incident. He added that the BJP-led State Government has lost all its credibility within two months after coming to power. Bora expressed his confidence of Congress party returning to power in the State after five years.

Referring to the notice served on Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi by a lower court regarding a defamation case, Bora said the party will approach the High Court in this regard. He added that Rahul Gandhi will not appear in the court himself on September 29 as per the notice.

Addressing the press conference, the leader of the Opposition of Assam Assembly, Debabrata Saikia said that the States BJP-led Government has failed to control the prices of essential commodities as per the promise they made in the election manifesto. The Congress party has given them enough time to control the price rise. Now we will resort to an agitational path, Saikia added.

The press conference was attended, among others, by MLAs Wajed Ali Choudhury, Rupjyoti Kurmi, former ministers Dr Bhumidhar Barman, Nilamani Sen Deka. The APCC leaders came to attend a party meeting at Nalbari to review the poll debacle in the district.
