By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday alleged that the State government has totally failed to provide relief to the flood-affected people. Let alone the food items, the State Government has even failed to supply safe drinking water to these people, alleged the APCC.

In a statement here on Wednesday, the APCC said that a delegation led by its president Ripun Bora visited the flood-affected areas of Morigaon district on Tuesday and talked to the flood-affected people at Lahorighat and Moirabari areas of the district. The team also distributed relief materials among the flood-affected people.

The party demanded that the State government should urgently supply relief materials to the flood-affected people, instead of boasting of enough funds on its hand.

The APCC delegation included deputy leader of the Assam Congress Legislature Party Rockybul Hussain, MLA Dr Nazrul Islam, APCC general secretaries Sailen Bora, Mukul Sarma, Dhiren Nath, Kalyan Gogoi, Bibekananda Doloi, former MLA Basanta Das, spokesman Imdad Hussain, secretary Anowar Hussain, Nagaon and Morigaon District Committees presidents and State NSUI president Jyotibikash Changmai, among others.
