Govt doctor asked to prove citizenship

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, Nov 23 An awkward situation prevailed here over the arrival of a Foreigners Tribunal Notice for senior medical and health officer of Panchmile new PHC asking him to prove his Indian nationality by November 25 with supporting documents.

It is worth mentioning that the officer concerned Dr Hemanta Koch, received the letter on Monday morning assuming it to be some official communication. However, he was astonished over the contents of the letter asking him to prove his nationality by producing subsequent evidence by November 25.

It needs mention here that on Monday morning the Foreigners Tribunal Office here sent the notice without any name but with only the designation of tfhe health officer of the PHC. All here are astonished to see the lackadaisical attitude of a responsible department like Foreigners Tribunal issuing such a notice to a senior government official who is an indigenous person of the State.
