GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - Considering the pending demand of the journalists in the State for their welfare, the State government has considered including the dependent family members of journalists who are accredited or recognised in the Journalist Medical Welfare Scheme. These members are now eligible to avail financial assistance for medical treatment, said an official release.
The dependent family members of such journalists include wife/widow or husband/widower of the journalist, father or mother who is unemployed and son/ unmarried daughter who is unemployed and is below the age of 28 years.
