Govt apathy pours misery on rural people

By Correspondent

GOLAGHAT, Nov 23 - The people living in the remote areas of the State continue to face the Governments apathy as they are being deprived of basis amenities like proper medical facilities, including sufficient doctors, medicines etc., till now.

For proper functioning of the rural public health centres (PHC) and community health centres (CHC), around 5,000 doctors are required, but only 2,200 doctors are working in medical services in the State, said an official.

Due to insufficient doctors, the rural people have to suffer a lot in getting proper medical treatment. For smooth running of a hospital, at least five doctors are required. Though the people of the concerned areas have been demanding the State Health Department to recruit doctors and fill up the vacant posts in the rural areas, all in vain.

It is worth mentioning that even the doctors under the rural family welfare (RFW) scheme are not getting their regular salaries.
