GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - Prime accused in the sensational Shweta Agarwal murder case Govind Singhal was taken to his house in Santipur area by a team of investigators where the crime scene was recreated.

A handcuffed Govind explained the pre and post-murder circumstances leading to the death of Shweta and how he later tried to cover up the crime by putting the body into the gunny bag and subsequently opted to burn it. Police also recovered the rope with which the gunny bag was tied. Besides, the sharp weapon which found a mention in the autopsy report, has been sent for forensic examination.

A number of other exhibits were also collected from the scene today. The entire proceedings were videographed.

While Singhal had earlier told investigators that Shweta got killed after he pushed her towards the wall in a fit of rage, the autopsy report came up with a finding that the deceased was attacked in the neck with a sharp weapon. There is also confusion over the involvement of Govinds mother and sister in the entire incident.

Meanwhile, the Purbottar Pradeshiya Marwari Sammelan and Purbottar Pradeshiya Marwari Yuva Manch today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) demanding justice over the alleged murder of Shweta Agarwal, a brilliant college student of the city. A public meeting held on the bank of the Dighalipukhuri lamented the death of Shweta, an HS topper, saying that it shattered her family.

The memorandum called for ensuring that the charge-sheet of the case is prepared under the supervision of a senior police officer within next month. It also called for deciding the case in a fast-track court, besides payment of Rs 15 lakh as ex-gratia to the bereaved family of Shweta.
