GUWAHATI, Nov 13 - Governor PB Acharya today visited the fire-affected areas of Fancy Bazar to take a personal look at the devastation wrought by the fire.
He met the district officials present at the sites and took stock of the situation. He directed the Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (Metro) to expedite the process of rehabilitation of the affected people, to help them to restart their enterprises at the earliest and to make arrangements for providing them relief from the Government. The Governor also interacted with the affected people and the office-bearers of merchants� associations.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Assam Chamber of Commerce comprising Sisir Dev Kalita, Secretary General (Admin) � Assam, Ananta Goswami, President � Guwahati, Ahbijit Kalita, Secretary General � Guwahati and Utpal Dutta, Patron Member visited Fancy Bazar to take stock of the tragic incident which sent shock waves in the entire State.
The delegation met many businessmen and residents of the affected areas and assured the victims of full cooperation from the Assam Chamber of Commerce. The delegation also met Rajkumar Tiwari, Ward Councillor of Ward Number 9 and Kailash Kabra, Vice President-Kamrup Chamber of Commerce and assured of all help to the affected entrepreneurs and residents.
