Governor visits Baksa district

GUWAHATI, March 13 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Baksa district today and held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, heads of the departments and other stakeholders to take stock of the developmental works and prevailing law-and-order situation in the district.

The Governor took note of the status of health and hygiene, drinking water, cleanliness, education, road and communication, agriculture, among others.

He also directed the administration to take special initiatives to ensure that benefits of all government schemes reach the lowest strata of the society at the earliest.

The Governor asked the Deputy Commissioner to undertake sudden visit to educational institutions, government offices and hospitals.

He also directed all officials to dedicate the first hour of their office on the seventh day of every month for �swachhata� and asked the Deputy Commissioner to inspect at least six places on the same day from 3 pm to 4 pm to take the swachhata drive to its logical conclusion.

Prof Mukhi also visited the 200-bed Dr Ravi Boro Civil Hospital in Mushalpur and interacted with the patients and inquired about the medical services being rendered to them. He also visited Mushalpur Higher Secondary School and held a meeting with the teachers.

The Governor interacted with the representatives of social organizations and members of the Press and took suggestions from them relating to the welfare of all sections of the people of the district.

He also held a meeting with the Superintendent of Police and the security agencies to have an insight of the law-and-order situation prevailing throughout the district.
