By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 20 Assam Governor JB Patnaik inaugurated the Nirbikalpa Sidhi Sthal of Paramhamsa Srimat Swami Nigamananda Saraswat Dev at Nilachal Hills, Kamakhya Dham today.

He was also accompanied by first lady Jayanti Patnaik.

Speaking at the public meeting held on the occasion, the Governor said that he considered himself fortunate for getting the privilege of inaugurating the Sidhi Sthal in honour of a great saint of India.

Pointing out that sages have two lives one before attainment of salvation and the other after attaining salvation Patnaik said that Assam was both the birth place and work place of the Swami as he had attained his siddhi in Assam at Kamakhya and thereafter he started preaching his knowledge in the State and set up his first math at Koilamukh. He also stated that Assam was the prime pilgrimage for Nigamanandas followers for both Kamakhya and Koilamukh were in Assam.

The Governor added that Swami Nigamananda followed Sankaracharyas math and tread on Chaitanyas path as well.

He believed in realization of knowledge and ensured the spread of that knowledge, the Governor said, adding that India was lucky in the sense that divine men took birth in the country from time to time to show the right path. He appealed to the followers of Nigamananda to live up to their ideals and to lead all in the right direction, and also asked them to spread their message of goodwill among the masses.

Lady Jayanti Patnaik also addressed the gathering. Other speakers at the function included Puroshottam Maharaj of Kokilamukh, Rabindra Prasad Sharma of Kamakhya Dham, Santosh Mohanty, and Sangram Kesri Singh.
