Governor lauds services of nurses

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 12: Governor PB Acharya has highly praised the services of nurses on International Nurses Day (IND) today.

IND is an international day celebrated around the world on May 12 each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society. In January 1974, May 12 was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing.

Calling it a noble profession, the Governor said that it was encouraging to find that many young women, even from tribal areas, were devoutly taking up the profession of nursing to help and aid the sick and the ailing.
