Governor, CM, ministers to visit primary schools

NALBARI, Oct 24 - In order to uplift the standard of primary education, a total of 4,800 officials including the Governor, Chief Minister, Ministers and other officials will visit the primary schools in the State under �Gunotsav� to be launched in three phases from the next academic session.

In the first phase to be held on April 4, 5 and 6, a total of 12,000 primary schools of eight districts will be monitored by a group of ministers and officials. This was disclosed by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Education while addressing the open meeting of the three-day diamond jubilee of Chandkuchi Public high school here on Sunday. The officials on the stipulated day will arrive at the school at the morning assembly and spend the day with the children. They will even take mid day meal with the children at schools, he added. He further stated that a total of 4,000 secondary schools will also be assessed by a group of gazetted officers on the lines of NAAC. Officials from Gujarat are now imparting training to the State Education officials about �Gunotsav�.

Speaking in the meeting, Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University said that for the real assessment of education we all must cooperate each other. He donated a hundred books to the library of the school. Addressing the meeting, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Industries and Transport said that we have not succeeded in properly utilising our human resources.We must develop our work culture to get desired results from our human resources, he added.The Government has taken initiatives for the skill development of the youths. Patowary urged the students to cultivate the reading habit to acquire knowledge.

Earlier, Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya, former president of Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha released the souvenir published to mark the occasion. Former MLA of Nalbari LAC, Jayanta Malla Baruah formally inaugurated the open meeting of the three-day diamond jubilee celebration of the Chandkuchi Public High School.The meeting, presided over by Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah,Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat who is also the president of the the platinum jubilee celebration committee was attended by Dr Dipak Kumar Sharma,Vice-Chancellor of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Ashok Kumar Sarma, MLA of Nalbari LAC, Anant Lal Gyani, Deputy Commissioner, Nalbari, Suresh Kumar Nath, Registrar of Gauhati University among others.
