Governor, CM greet people on Rongali Bihu

GUWAHATI, April 13 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and Assamese New Year.

In a message, Mukhi said, �The colourful festival which marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year and heralds the advent of the sowing season, prompts us to return to our essence which is our nature and celebrate our unity showcasing our diversities. I hope the celebration of Rongali Bihu ushers in peace, prosperity and plenty in Assam and create an opportunity for the people of Assam to come closer to the nature and work for a greener Assam.�

In a statement, Sonowal said, �Rongali Bihu is a festival which constitutes the lifeline of the people of Assam and the crux of the composite culture of the state. This Bihu is the harbinger of new hope and possibility and its celebration reinforces our age-old bond of unity and camaraderie.�

The Assam Sanmilita Mahasangha also greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Rongali Bihu.
