GUWAHATI, Oct 11 � Governor JB Patnaik has condoled the demise of senior Congress leader Silvius Condpan who breathed his last yesterday at New Delhi. Many Congress leaders including Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi paid floral tributes to the Rajya Sabha MP at Rajiv Bhawan here after his body was brought to the city today. EC decision on D voters decried
GUWAHATI, Oct 11 � The Hindu Yuba Chattra Parishad, Asom has resented the decision of the Election Commission to abolish the D Voter system from the State. The student body in a statement said that the Election Commission has taken such a decision under pressure from certain organisations representing the Bangladeshi Muslims. �The D voter system was safeguarding the State from the nefarious design of the Bangladeshis to a certain extent. Doing away with the system will compound the burning issues of the State,� said the student body.
