Goriya-Moriya-Deshi Jatiya Parishad�s meet

GORESWAR, Oct 24 � The biennial convention of the Baksa district committee of the All Assam Gariya-Moriya-Deshi Jatiya Parishad (AAGMDJP) will be held on the Goreswar PWD Bungalow premises under the aegis of the Goreswar Anchalik Samiti unit of the AAGMDJP from tomorrow with a two-day programme.

The programme will begin with the flag hoisting by Abdur Rahim, president of the Baksa district committee, which will be followed by smriti tarpan by Ajizul Hoque, general secretary, Baksa district committee. The sapling plantation programme will be initiated by Sukumar Das, superintendent of the 30-bed Goreswar PHC, UN Sarma, in-charge OC, Goreswar Police Station, Amindra Nath, president, Betna Siksha Aru Krishi Unnayan Sangha and Mahidhar Boro, principal, Goreswar HS School respectively, which will be followed by a spot drawing competition among school children.

Dr Khargeswar Deka, principal, Goreswar College, will conduct the analytical discussion on the topic, �Brihattar Asomiya Jati Gathanat Goriya-Moriya-Deshi Sakalar Bhumika� (�The role of the GMDS in formation of the greater Assamese society�) at 11 am, while Abdul Hussain, principal of Jnyanjoti Commerce College, Titabar, Prof Dr Akkabar Ali, BN College, Dhubri, and Prof Abdur Raufo, Kamrup College, Chamata, will be the resource persons. In the evening, the representative camp will be inaugurated by Mobarak Hussain, engineer of the National Rural Electric Abhiyan, Bongaigaon, which will be followed by the subject selection meet.

On October 26, an open meet will be held at noon under the direction of the president of the Baksa district committee, AAGMDJP. It will be inaugurated by Rafika Hussain, president of the central committee. Nekibur Jaman, distinguished advocate, Gauhati High Court, will be the appointed guest in the open meet. Haidar Hussain, journalist, will release the souvenir that will be brought out on the occasion, which will be followed by the lighting of earthen lamps by Krishna Das Swargiyary, Kalimuddin Ahmed, Chand Mohammad Choudhury and Dr Chamuruddin Ahmed.
