Golden jubilee of Nigam High School

NAMRUP, Jan 9 � The Nigam High School, situated a few kilometres from here, celebrated its golden jubilee by holding a three-day programme from January 2 to January 4.

On the first day, the programme started with �Phehujali,� which was followed by the flag hoisting by Hema Chandra Gogoi, president of the golden jubilee celebration committee. The smirti tarpan was offered by Chitra Bora. The first day�s programme included the inauguration of several facilities, bicycle stand, book fair, etc., and ended with a cultural show in memory of Mahendra Nath Bhuyan and Priyanath Bhuyan.

On the second day, the celebration comprised programmes like cleanliness drive, multi-cultural procession and the inauguration of the souvenir by Moni Phukan, associate professor, Naharkatia College. In the evening, a seminar on the topic, �Gramanchalar Sikhar Anagrasharatar Karon Aru Nirmulkaran� was conducted by Dimbeswar Gogoi, retired professor, Namrup College, in which Dr Jyotimala Gohain Phukan, principal, Tingkhong College, and Joyanada Baruah took part as the main speakers. The day�s programme ended with a cultural show in memory of Lalit Chandra Mahanta.

On the concluding day, an open session was held in the evening under the chairmanship of Jibeswar Mahan, ex-principal, Tingkhong College. Rameswar Teli, MP, Dibrugarh, Dr Tilok Chandra Saikia, Inspector of Schools, Dibrugarh, Jyoti Prasad Konwar, associate professor, Naharkatia College, Tapan Gogoi, general secretary, AASU, Madhu Kumar Gogoi, president, Dibrugarh DSU, were the invited guests. Md Nasir Sultan, general secretary, State Academic Council, attended the session as the appointed speaker.

The golden jubilee celebration came to an end with a cultural show titled �Atul Chandra Gogoi Suwarani Sanskritik Sandhya.�
