Golden jubilee of Agdala Chariali High School

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Nov 13 - The golden jubilee celebrations of Agdala Chariali High School got under way at the school premises today with a three-day programme.

Today, the programme began with banti prajjalan. Thereafter, the flag was hoisted and smriti tarpan offered. Tree plantation, opening of the entrance gate of the exhibition, cultural procession, felicitation meeting and annual prize distribution programme, banti prajjalan in the evening and cultural functions, were the other programmes of the day.

Tomorrow at 10 am, a meeting of the alumni association under the chairmanship of Majnur Ali, vice-president of the jubilee celebration committee will be held. This meeting will be inaugurated by a former student, Dadhi Mohan Das and anchored by Dr Sarat Chandra Deka and Bipin Chandra Deka, ex-students of the school.

At 3 pm, public felicitation and prize distribution programme of various competitions held on the occasion of the golden jubilee will be held under the presidentship of Deben Sarma where Dr Balendra Kumar Deb Choudhury, Principal of Pub-Kamrup College, Dr Mohan Chandra Kalita, professor of Gauhati University and Arupa Patangiya Kalita, noted litterateur and professor of Tangla College will take part as distinguished guests. At 6 pm, retired teacher Dina Nath Deka will perform banti prajjalan and at 7 pm, noted actress and professor of Jagiroad College, Dr Moloya Goswami, will inaugurate the cultural programmes.

On November 15, the programme will begin at 11 am with the inauguration of books and souvenir under the chairmanship of Roktima Deka Baruah, ex-president of Baihata Chariali Sahitya Sabha where chief editor of Niyomiya Barta, Phanindra Kumar Deb Choudhury and editor of Asomiya Pratidin, Nitya Bora will grace the occasion as souvenir and book inaugurators respectively. The open meeting will be held under the presidentship of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, president of the golden jubilee celebration committee at 3 pm.

The meeting will be inaugurated by Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, editor of Dainik Asam, where Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, chief adviser of AASU, Dr Hitesh Deka, Vice-Chancellor of KKHSOU and Nitu Moni Saikia, chief editor of Pratidin Time will participate as distinguished guests. At 6 pm, retired teacher Bhabesh Chandra Deka will perform banti prajjalan and at 7 pm, noted physician and artiste Dr Anjan Jyoti Choudhury will inaugurate the cultural evening.
