Golden jubilee celebration of Kaliabor College

KALIABOR, Oct 14 - Kaliabor College, the only higher educational institution here having all the three faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce and established in 1969, has now completed 50 years of its existence.

In this context, a public meeting was held on October 12 on the college premises in the presence of a large public, present and former students of the college, teachers and former teachers. The meeting was chaired by retired lecturer of the college and former minister Gunin Hazarika. Dr HK Chaliha, principal of the college, welcomed the people and stated the main objectives of the meeting.

The golden jubilee will be celebrated with a yearlong programme from January, 2019 with everyone�s cooperation and help, he said. Dr SR Mahanta, principal of Nagaon Commerce College and a former student, Mani Madhab Mahanta, vice president, AASU, and an ex-student, former students Hiru Mahanta, hp Hazarika, retired professor and also a former student PK Saikia, retired professor A Gogoi Sarma, Prof Indra Mahanta, Pradip Borua, also a former student, N Upadhyaya, social worker, Golap Saikia, social worker and Bitupon Neog, adc/sdo in-charge, Kaliabor, attended the meeting. They offered various suggestions to celebrate the golden jubilee programme.

Taking part in the meeting, minister Keshab Mahanta appealed to all to pitch in their efforts to make the golden jubilee celebration a success.

A golden jubilee celebration committee was constituted with Keshab Mahanta, former student, former lecturer of the college as well as Minister for Water Resources, Science and Technology, Information Technology, etc., as the president, former principal of the college Narendra Nath Hazarika as the executive president, and Dr hk Chaliha, principal of the college, as secretary along with some sub-committees.

Earlier, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta inaugurated the newly-constructed boys� common room, while former minister Gunin Hazarika opened the newly-constructed students� union office in the presence of a large number of students. Principal Dr HK Chaliha earlier felicitated Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and Gunin Hazarika with phulam gamosas.
