Golden jubilee celebration of Dorakahara HS

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Dec 26 � The golden jubilee of Dorakahara High School here will be celebrated from December 29 with a two-day programme. This was informed by Tarmuj Ali, publicity secretary of the golden jubilee celebration committee.

As per schedule, the programme of the jubilee will begin on December 29 with hoisting of school flag by Mina Kumar, headmaster (i/c) of Dorakahara High School at 8 am followed by hoisting of golden jubilee celebrations flag by Prafulla Kakati, president of the golden jubilee celebration committee.

The newly constructed gate will be opened at 8.30 am by Kamala Kanta Lahkar, retired head master (i/c) of Dorakahara High School. On the other hand, Harendra Nath Goswami, retired principal of Changsari Higher Secondary School will perform smriti tarpan at 8.45 am. At 9 am, tree plantation will be held under the aegis of RBI, Guwahati Branch and at 9.30 am the computer room will be inaugurated by Chakradhar Mali, retired headmaster of the school. At 10 am the colourful cultural procession will be inaugurated by Kanak Chandra Sarma, retired headmaster of the school.

At 2 pm, a seminar on �Need of the development of the standard of quality education in the field of globalisation� will be held under the chairmanship of Dr Balendra Kumar Devchoudhury, principal of Pub-Kamrup College, where Dr Sikhar Sarma, associate professor, Gauhati University Dr Abani Kumar Bhagawati, professor, Gauhati University and Dr Dinesh Baishya, retired principal of B Barooah College will take part as resource persons.

The second day of the golden jubilee celebration will begin with �drawing contest� and it will be conducted by Madan Sarma and Harmohan Kalita. The alumni meet will be inaugurated by Chandi Charan Kakati, retired teacher of the school and conducted under the chairmanship of Golap Nath, ex-student of the school and it will be anchored by Sumanjit Kakati lecturer of North Guwahati College.

At 1.30 pm the open meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Prafulla Chandra Kakati where Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister of the State and Ramen Deka MP, Mangaldai HPC will take part as chief guest and distinguished guest respectively, and Dr Hitesh Deka ex-principal of KC Das Commerce College, Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, adviser of AASU and Jadav Deka MLA of Kamalpur LAC will take part as distinguished speakers and guest of honour respectively. In the same meeting Dr Deben Chandra Das ex-teacher of the School will release the souvenir of the golden jubilee. At 5 pm a number of social workers will perform banti prajalan and at 5.30 pm in the prize distribution meeting Balin Bordoloi, ex-manager of TATA Tea will take part as prize distributor. At 6 pm Diganta Kalita, secretary, APCC will inaugurate the cultural evening of the day.
