Golden jubilee celebration of BH College

BARPETA, Dec 13 - The concluding function of the golden jubilee celebration of B H College in Barpeta district will be held with a three-day programme from December 19.

As per programmes chalked out by the golden jubilee celebration committee, the celebration will begin with hoisting of the college flag by Dr Bhushan Chandra Pathak Principal of the college on December 19, followed by the hoisting of golden jubilee flag by Paramananda Das, chief president of the celebration committee.

The golden jubilee gate will be inaugurated by Ram Avatar Maheswari, president of the celebration committee at 11 am, while the stage will be inaugurated by Hrishikesh Goswami working president of the celebration committee and the Media advisor to the Chief Minister.

Several books will be released at a function to be commenced from 11.45 am that day under the presidentship of Munindra Narayan Goswami.

Dr Khurshed Alam, retired Professor of Economics, will be the chief guest of the function and G L Agarwala and Dinesh Chandra Baruah will release books. Dr Arun Kumar Das founder Professor and ex-Principal in-charge of the college will inaugurate the entrance of the book -fair- cum exhibition.

A seminar on "Challenges before the Higher Education in Contemporary India" will be inaugurated by Dr Babulal Sarma, Director of Higher Education Assam. The seminar will be presided over by Krishna Gopal Bhattacharya, retired Professor of Gauhati University and it will be addressed by Dr Arupjyoti Choudhury Dean (Academic)

Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University and Dr Santanu Baishya, Head of Physics Department of Cotton University. Ex- presidents of the college governing bodies and retired employees of the college and faculty members will be felicitated at a function.

A grand cultural procession will be taken out on December 29 which will be inaugurated by Thaneswar Malakar, Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta. Renowned actor and chairman of Assam State Film Finance and Development Corporation will be the chief guest of the procession.

The souvenir to be published on this occasion will be released on that day by eminent writer Kula Saikia.

A plantation drive will be carried out by Green Mission, Prajanmay Ek Jatra and Happy Club that will be inaugurated by Sashiprabha Goswami, vice-principal of the college. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest of the open meeting, while State Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTC Chief Hagrama Mahilary will attend the meet as distinguished guests.
