Golaghat youth tops State Civil Services exam

DERGAON, Dec 25 - Kongkon Jyoti Saikia, a resident of Bipin Phukan Nagar in Golaghat, has topped the Combined Competitive Examination 2018 conducted by the APSC, the result of which was declared on Thursday. Talking to The Assam Tribune, Saikia who has been selected for the Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade) said that there was no secret except hard work for his success. He said he cleared the examination in his second attempt. Now working as a judicial assistant at the Gauhati High Court, he started preparation for the examination while studying for his MSc.

The topper acknowledged the free-of-cost coaching offered by the State Level Advisory Committee (SLAC) under the State government after the preliminaries. The only son of a teacher and a postal department employee, he studied in Golaghat, and later under Dibrugarh University and Gauhati University.

Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Chandra Modi congratulated Saikia on his success on behalf of the people of the district.

In addition to Saikia, Bedanta Bikash Bora and Sekharan Phukan from the district also secured two positions.
