GOLAGHAT, Nov 8 - The Habial Primary Vidyalaya celebrated its centenary year recently with a three-day programme in Golaghat district.
The programmes included tree plantation, inauguration of the main gate, flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, felicitation of the retired teachers, release of a souvenir, alumni function, inauguration of the cultural night and holding open meeting, prize distribution etc.
An open meeting was also held on the occasion. The meeting was presided over by Ratneswar Dutta, retired principal of the school, and was inaugurated by Upen Dutta, journalist and educationist.
The meeting was addressed by Dulal Saikia, former president Golaghat Zila Prathamik Sishak Sanmilani, Dimbeswar Barua, president of the sanmilani, among others.
In the meeting, a souvenir Satabdi was released by Santanu Tamuly, a writer. In the meeting, several founder teachers were also felicitated. The alumni meet was conducted by Dhiren Rajkhowa, former principal of Kuralguri HSS.
Earlier, Prasanta Kalita, secretary of the celebration committee, explained the objectives of the meeting and delivered a welcome speech. A drama Gurudakshina was staged by the students and artists.
