DERGAON, Aug 11 - Officials of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of Golaghat district today visited houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAYG).
A total of 397 employees from Chief Executive Officer and Project Director to contractual employees visited 1,191 households. The female employees visited the houses during the day while their male counterparts will spend the entire night in the houses.
Each employee visited a complete and two incomplete houses to collect data about problems being faced by the beneficiaries, including drinking water, fuel, electricity and sanitation.
The beneficiaries welcomed the innovative programme by the department. Talking to this Correspondent, a PMAYG beneficiary under Kakodonga Block and Negheriting Gaon Panchayat Sontosh Kurmi admitted that he never imagined that a Government official would ever halt at his house for the night.
