Golaghat court notice to top bureaucrats

JORHAT, Nov 18 - Addressing a press conference here today former minister and tea planter of Jorhat Abhijit Sarma said that a local court of Golaghat issued notices to State Government�s top bureaucrats including Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP and the DC and SP of the district for their appearance in the court in response to a title suit filed by him on Tuesday.

In presence of his advocate petitioner Sarma said that he and several other passenger were stranded on National Highway 37 for 40 minutes at Hatikhuli area of Golaghat district on July 29 this year as their vehicles were not allowed to move on the road as the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi�s convoy had to pass through the particular area of the public road.

Though Sarma sought explanations from government�s respondents concerned in such a case of utter violation of existing law of the country he did not get any reply from the respondents.

�As he did not get the answer for the last two months from the officials concerned we filed a title suit in the court of Civil Judge of Golaghat district. The court yesterday issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary , DGP and the DC and SP of Golaghat district for appearing in the court,� said advocate Jishnu Barooah, who represented petitioner Sarma in the court.
