Golaghat boys in control against Lakhimpur

GUWAHATI, Jan 2 � Golaghat took 12-runs first innings lead with two wickets in hand in the Amarjit Sarma Memorial U-15 Inter District Cricket final.

At the NFRSA Stadium, Maligaon here today, opting to bat first, Lakhimpur were all out for 117 in 41.2 overs and at the end of the first day�s play of the two-day match, Golaghat were 129 for eight.

Golaghat bowler Yashif Ansari wrecked the Lakhimpur innings with a six wicket haul giving away 44 runs in his 18-over spell. Munna Narah (29) and Raktim Baniya (21) were the only notable contributors for Lakhimpur while Shankarjyoti Bhuyan took three wickets for Golaghat.

In the remaining 64 overs of the day, Golaghat scored 129 for the loss of eight wickets with Bedanta Saikia (47) and Bikram Rawat (26) being the leading run getters.
