GUWAHATI, April 1 - BJP Assam media panellist and former MLA Jagdish Bhuyan has accused the Congress-led State Government of misappropriation of funds and condemned the non-payment of dues of the contractors.
Addressing media persons here on Friday, Jagdish Bhuyan also termed the comparisons made in advertisements by the Congress between Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and BJP Assam president Sarbananda Sonowal as completely irrelevant and insignificant. Bhuyan also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led 20-month-old Central Government has delivered way beyond what the Congress could not deliver in 60 years.
The Congress government was willing to give away Assam during the Chinese aggression and the only thing that they have delivered is the IM(DT) Act, that too for the protection of the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, said Bhuyan.
Another BJP Assam media panellist Bijon Mahajan slammed the Congress for not delivering their promises of giving justice to the family members of those who were victims of secret killings and stated that a delay of more than 15 years is no less than providing no justice to the sufferers.
Mahajan also urged the Assam Chief Minister to accept his failure in delivering his pre-poll commitments and requested him for a CBI probe in all the matters and not to be selective about choosing the matters to be probed.
Taking the name of senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma in Louis Berger and Sharada scams may call for serious legal action against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and calling a witness an accused is against the law of the land, he added.
State BJP spokesperson Pabitra Margherita said that the BJP and its allies will drive away the Congress-AIUDF out of Assam. The spokesperson also stated that a case has been registered against one of the Congress candidates in Jorhat for providing forged educational documents. He also accused the Congress of being engaged in violent activities against BJP in Dhemaji.
