Gogoi seeks Sonias nod for action

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, July 27 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and briefed her about the political scenario in the State.

The Chief Minister, who met Gandhi shortly before she hosted an Iftaar party, reportedly submitted a note regarding the recent developments and activities of the rebel group.

Sources said the Chief Minister sought the Congress chiefs permission to reshuffle his ministry. The induction and change of portfolios is now expected to take place after the Budget Session of the Assembly.

The Chief Ministers group is also in a confrontation mood and Gogoi is seeking the high commands permission to take action against seven-eight MLAs. AICC leaders however, are a little worried about the activities Himanta Biswa Sarmas camp would indulge in during the Assembly session. As reported, ten MLAs are already in touch with the BJPs central leadership.

Our Staff Reporter adds in Guwahati: Meanwhile, the Gogoi Government may face some tough time in the Budget Session of the Assembly, which begins on August 4, as the dissidents are planning to corner it on several key issues of the State.

Dissident sources said that they would raise several issues involving the people of the State during the session. We have to inform the people why we are opposing Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and raising some issues in the Assembly will be the best way to do so, sources said. However, the dissidents will meet on August 2 to chalk out their final action plan.

The dissidents are also hoping that the reshuffle in the Ministry would lead to cracks in the Gogoi camp as it would not be possible for the Chief Minister to please everyone. Sources in the dissident camp pointed out that Gogoi would not be able to keep the Ministry reshuffle on hold for a long time.
