Gogoi rejects AASU comment on NRC

GUWAHATI, Nov 15 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi termed AASU�s remark that present Government is creating

impediment on the way of NRC update process is entirely false and baseless.

In a statement here on Sunday Gogoi said, �It is due to my initiative the NRC update process has begun in right earnest. We are for a correct NRC devoid of any foreigner�s name�.

Gogoi also said that the State Government has all along been putting emphasis on preparation and update of a correct NRC to solve the long standing issue of illegal immigration. He said that efforts have been made by the State Government to ensure that no genuine Indian citizen�s name is left out and no illegal foreigner�s name is included in the NRC.

Chief Minister Gogoi also said that if there is any loopholes in the NRC update process, AASU or any organization should bring it to the notice of the concerned authority. Gogoi also urged the people from all walks of life, AASU and other organisations to extend full cooperation for a correct NRC in the State.
