Gogoi plays down APCC chiefs issue

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Oct 19 In a bid to put an end to the political speculations over APCC president, Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi declared that he was willing to work with anyone as PCC chief.

To buttress his claim, he mentioned that the issue of the next PCC president did not figure in his talks with Sonia Gandhi, when he called on her on Saturday. When we have authorised her through a resolution, which I moved, why should I discuss the issue, he asked.

The Congress president did not ask for my opinion and I did not raise it, he claimed.

Reiterating that when the Party happens to be in power, the prime responsibility lies with the Chief Minister, Gogoi said he was willing to work with any leader. When we can get Silvius Condpan elected to Rajya Sabha, where is the question of division within the Party, he countered.

Gogois camp and Kalita were at loggerheads over the issue of the next PCC president. Gogois panel include Dr Bhumidhar Barman, Biren Singh Ingti and Mridula Saharia, while Kalita is seeking a third term.
