Gogoi may meet dissidents

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 5 Members of the dissident group got into a huddle one more time this morning even as Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi landed in Guwahati from New Delhi.

It is speculated that the Chief Minister would hold discussions with the disgruntled Members of the Legislative Assembly in a phased manner, as has been reportedly advised by the Congress high command.

The picture is expected to get clear by tomorrow although the dissident group is apparently not keen in meeting the CM unless there is a CLP meeting under the supervision of an AICC observer, sources told this reporter.

The dissident group today met at the official residence of senior Congressman Sarat Barkataky and had a discussion lasting several hours. Those who attended the meeting included Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Border Development Minister Siddique Ahmed, among others.

However, the members, after coming out of the meeting, refrained from making any comment on their future course of action.

The Chief Minister, too, after landing in Guwahati, straightaway moved to his Koinadhara residence and was slated to meet his loyalists later in the evening.

Gogoi had met Rahul Gandhi and senior leaders, like CP Joshi and Ghulam Nabi Azad, on Tuesday in New Delhi.
