GUWAHATI, Oct 1 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi extended his heartiest congratulations to renowned boxer MC Mary Kom for clinching the gold medal in the ongoing 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea.

In a statement here today, the Chief Minister said that the unbeatable performance demonstrated by the world champion at the Asian Games has not made only the North East region proud and elated but it has also made the entire country high-flying.

�I convey my heartiest congratulations to her on winning the gold medal at the Asian Games. Her gold clinching performance has assumed more importance because she has become the first ever Indian woman boxer to have won a gold medal at the Asian Games. I hope that she would continue to keep the flag of our country on a constant high with her performances in upcoming events,� the Chief Minister added.
