Gogoi hints at delay in ministry reshuffle

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Nov 17 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today hinted at the possibility of delay in clearance of the list of new ministers by the AICC, as top leaders were busy with the ongoing birth anniversary celebration of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Chief Minister, who is here to take part in the birth anniversary celebration, told newspersons on the sidelines of the meeting that he does not see much possibility of meeting the AICC high command, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, as they were all busy with the conclave.

They are all going to be busy with the conference for the next two-three days, Gogoi remarked.

The Chief Minister, meanwhile, is likely to leave for Guwahati on Tuesday.

As reported, the AICC is currently giving priority to finalising the president of PCC and is currently holding consultations with several senior leaders of Assam Congress.

The names, which have emerged include Anjan Dutta, Pradyut Bordoloi, Ranee Narah, Bhupen Bora and Ripun Bora, among others.

Sources said that AICC would soon take a final call on selection of the president of the party. The list of new ministers may be finalised after appointment of a new PCC president, said sources.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister declined to comment on his erstwhile Cabinet colleague Himanta Biswa Sarmas recent claims. Sarma had claimed before TV channels that he was offered the post of deputy Chief Minister and three ministerial berths as part of a compromise deal by the Chief Minister.

Reacting to Sarmas claim, Gogoi said that everyone knows what they had talked about. I do not wish to comment about it, he said.

I have nothing to say and I am not going to engage in a debate over the issue with Sarma, he said.
