Gogoi denies shielding greenhouse scam accused

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, April 12 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today reacted sharply to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allegation that the officers involved in the greenhouse scam were being shielded by the State Government as baseless. There cannot be any question of the State Government shielding the scam-tainted officers, he said.

According to a statement issued by Chief Ministers Press Secretary Abdul Khalek, the Chief Minister has stated that the present Government in the State has been taking stern actions against corruption. The Government has instituted inquiries on various corruption cases and taken steps against those found guilty.

The greenhouse scam took place during the rule of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). Later, the BJP entered into an electoral alliance with this party. Whether the BJP was oblivious of the greenhouse scam when it entered into an electoral alliance with the AGP, wondered the Chief Minister.

He also affirmed that law would take its own course in matters of the greenhouse scam, the statement added.
