Gogoi decries CBI raid on residence of NDTV founders

By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 6 - Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has condemned yesterdays CBI raid on the residence of NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy and described it as an attempt at silencing the voices of independent and anti-establishment media. This act is an attack on the fourth estate, he said.

In a statement here, Gogoi said the act of using CBI as a tool to stifle those voices which have been critical of the failures and misdeeds of the Modi government, has been rejected by all the right-thinking people.

In the days to come, we will fight against the divisive policies and tendencies of the Modi government to stifle the voices that express different thoughts and ideas or speak out for alternative policies and philosophies. He warned the Central Government against hounding and threatening the independent media.
