GUWAHATI, Feb 25 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today compared Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi with Bir Chilarai and Lachit Barphukan and described the youth leader the Chief of Army of which he himself is a Major General. At the same time, Gogoi accused NDAs prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of being number one in spreading misinformation and falsehood.
Addressing the Congress party rally at the Veterinary College ground here today, Gogoi also said that Assams progress during the past decade has been better than that of Gujarat.
He is the Chief of Army and I am a Major General and we also have some who are Captains and others who are soldiers, Gogoi said.
In a lighter note, he said, Though I am old, when I meet Rahul Gandhi I feel young. Together, we, old and young, will create a new Assam.
We want to strengthen the common people. Rahul Gandhi is not after power. Modi is after power while Rahulji wants to give power to the common man, said the Chief Minister.
Charging the Gujarat Chief Minister, Gogoi said, Modi is number one in spreading misinformation. We are number one in work.
He said while Assam started late, its social and economic indicators have grown faster than that of Gujarat in the last decade. We are for the poor. Modi is for the rich and industrialists, he added.
He said while Modi talks about Olympics, Gujarat has not even organised National Games during his tenure, unlike Assam. Does Gujarat have a world-class stadium like Assam? Gogoi argued.
He further attacked the BJP leader and said, Some people say that I lose my sleep whenever Modi comes here. The truth is that when Modi comes I only sleep more. Just the other day I played golf, watched horse ride and listened to Papons music.
