Goch Tol Bihu of Moran girls

TINSUKIA, April 28 - As part of the traditions of the Rongali Bihu of the Moran community that began from April 20, Goch Tol Bihu is being celebrated by the young girls of the community belonging to different areas of Tinsukia district.

Moran girls of Kordoiguri and Talap are celebrating Goch Tol Bihu. The traditional Goch Tol Bihu of the ethnic group is performed by girls in a �Bihutoli,� generally situated under a big tree of the village for a particular period.

Morans celebrate the Rongali Bihu from a Wednesday of the Assamese Bohag month according to the direction of the Sattradhikar of that particular area. The Rongali Bihu is thus celebrated in the area for the entire Bohag month.

Young girls sing and dance during Goch Tol Bihu till the day of Bihu Uruwa fixed on an earlier date. All the villagers get together to witness the conclusion of the Goch Tol Bihu and other forms of Bihu on the day of Bihu Uruwa.
