GOC visits Goalpara Sainik School

GUWAHATI, Nov 12 � Lt Gen KH Singh, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, 16 Corps, visited the Sainik School at Goalpara today to commemorate the school�s golden jubilee. He will visit the Sainik School in Imphal tomorrow. The Sainik Schools of Goalpara and Imphal are primary feeder institutes to the prestigious National Defence Academy.

Lieutenant General KH Singh, who hails from the State of Manipur, is the first Army officer from the North East who has risen to the coveted rank of Lieutenant General and is presently the senior most officer from the region. He joined Goalpara Sainik School in 1968 and subsequently joined NDA in 1974 before being commissioned to 2 Rajput (Kalichindi) in 1978. During his illustrious career, the General Officer had held various command and staff appointments and has in-depth knowledge of challenges being faced by the region, said an Army release.

The highlight of the visit of Lt Gen KH Singh will be his interaction with the young cadets of the schools which will definitely motivate these young impressionable minds to strive for excellence through hard work and carve out a successfully military career for themselves.
