GoC-in-C reviews security scenario in Lower Assam

GUWAHATI, Oct 29 - The General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Eastern Command, Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi reviewed the security scenario in Lower Assam and the counter-insurgency operations.

After visiting the forward locations in Tawang Sector, Lt Gen Bakshi visited Rangiya- based Red Horns Division accompanied by Lt Gen Sarath Chand, GOC Gajraj Corps, to review the overall security situation prevailing in Lower Assam and also to get a first-hand feel of the ongoing operations against the terrorist groups.

On his arrival at Rangiya, Bakshi was received by Maj Gen CP Mohanty, the General Officer Commanding of the Division. He was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing counter-insurgency and counter- terrorism operations in Lower Assam, with a specific update on the current operations being undertaken against NDFB (S) post the December 23, 2014 violence against the Adivasis.
