Goa in comfort zone vs Assam

GUWAHATI, Dec 29 � Assam won the toss and invited Goa to bat first hoping the pacers will be able to make early bearkthroughs. But the decission back fired as the host team ended the opening day with 264 for 3.

In the final match of the Group C Ranji Trophy match at Porvorim today, Assam bowlers hardly could put any pressure on the Goa batsmen.

Amogh Sunil Desai remained unbeaten with 101 while his partner for the third wicket Reagan John Pinto was the other notable contributor with 61. The partnership yeilded most valuable 211 runs while the second wicket partnership between Sugam Krishna Kamat (70) and Desai put on 165 on the board.

Desai faced 230 balls in his 230-minute innings which was studded with 11 boundaries and a six.

At stumps, MS Bislat is giving Desai company with 22.

Arup Das, Arlen Konwar and Syed Mohammad were the successful bowlers for Assam with one wicket each.
