GUWAHATI, July 19 - GNRC, a super speciality hospital in the North-East, has come forward with two dedicated COVID care units for the people of the region.
"Currently, there are almost 23,000 COVID-19 cases in Assam and it is expected that the number might increase in the days to come. In such a scenario, it is expected that the private healthcare facilities should join hands with the state government to manage this pandemic. Private healthcare institutions of the region need to rise to the occasion to mitigate this devastation caused by the Coronavirus. Dr Nomal Chandra Borah, the founder of Affordable Health Mission and GNRC, had already announced on social media on March 25 offering 500 beds to the state government if the need arises," a GNRC statement said.
GNRC has made operational two COVID units at its Dispur and North Guwahati units.
GNRC-Good Health Clinic (which is based near the GNRC Dispur and Sixmile units) has been converted into fully functional indoor facilities along with ICU unit for COVID patients.
An entire block of GNRC Medical-North Guwahati has been converted into a COVID care facility. However, the rest of the hospital premises of GNRC-North Guwahati will remain open for the public to avail treatment with non-COVID ailments at affordable rates.
Similarly, the GNRC-Dispur and Sixmile units shall continue to serve patients suffering from non-COVID related ailments.
