GMC�s 1971 batch conducts health camps

GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - The doctors of the 1971 batch of Gauhati Medical College (GMC) organised two health-cum-flood relief camps at Athgaon under Kamalpur subdivision on July 28, an e-mail received here stated.

One of the camps was held at Athgaon Veterinary Office, while the other one was held at Gopalnagar. Around 650 people benefited from the camps.

At the camps, a team of doctors examined the people and distributed free medicines, clothes and food items like rice, dal, vegetables and milk, etc., among them.

The members of this batch are in their sixties and have been doing social work under this banner from time to time.

Both the camps were sponsored by the batch members along with like-minded non-medicos, including former captain of Assam cricket team Prabir Hazarika and senior official of ONGC Pranip Barthakur.

The team of doctors comprised of AH Saikia, T Saikia, A Talukdar, BD Misra, D Sarma, A Narzari, AK Hazarika, MK Baruah, P Barthakur, A Baruah, A Deka, G Barthakur, L Saikia, K Saikia, A Misra, A Saikia and A Goswami. They were assisted by nurses and other paramedical staff.
