GUWAHATI, May 14 Senior Superintendent of Police (City) AP Tiwari today met the agitating junior and working doctors of the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital premises following which the strike was called off.

Tiwari said that already an unarmed component have been attached with the hospital and is doing its job quite efficiently.

A police station too is there inside the premises and whatever little bit of modification is required will be looked into, Tiwari said.

Earlier today, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had tweeted against the culture of staging demonstration inside the hospital premises and said that such acts are detrimental to the cause of the poor patients.

A day after Dr Sarita was killed at the AMCH, two youths allegedly misbehaved with on-duty doctors at the GMCH following which junior and working doctors decided to stage sit-in demonstration demanding adequate security measures in and around the GMCH.
