GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - Guwahati has already been selected as one of the 98 cities in the first stage of shortlisting under the Smart City Mission, to be implemented during the next five years.
In this endeavour, the selected cities will have to prepare smart city proposal for participation for the �City Challenge� as part of the second stage of the selection process.
The Wapcos Ltd, New Delhi, in association with the Oasis Designs Inc, New Delhi, has been engaged by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) as consultant for preparation of the proposal for the Smart City Mission.
Wapcos, a premier international consultancy public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, is mandated to help the State government in the sector of water resources, power and infrastructure development through its experience and expertise. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Wapcos have joined hands to chalk out a viable plan for a green, sustainable and smart Guwahati, stated a press release.
