GJM extends support to Gorkha agitation

By Correspondent

AIZAWL, June 18 - The Mizoram branch of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has extended its support to the demand for Gorkha State in northern West Bengal, which has been renewed following the West Bengal Government forcing Bengali as a compulsory subject for the school students in Darjeeling.

The enforcement of Bengali as a compulsory subject in all schools under the Gorkha Territorial Administration is an attempt to oppress the language and identity of the Gorkhas, the GJM Mizoram branch said in a statement today.

Extending its support to the Gorkhas State demand, the GJM Mizoram said Gorkha State is the Constitutional rights and the ultimate political goal of the Gorkhas in India, which must be solved in the political level soon.
