Girls died of road mishap: report

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 8 In what should bring an end to the mystery surrounding the infamous Azara incident, the findings of the autopsy report indicate that the deaths were caused due to a road accident.

It has been reliably learnt that the autopsy report reportedly found evidence of sexual intercourse in the victims, although it could not be said whether it was consensual or forceful. An autopsy report never determines whether it was a case of forceful intercourse or consensual sexual intercourse, sources said.

Police, however, has not yet made the post mortem report official and is waiting for the forensic reports to be corroborated.

Sources having access to the post mortem report said that the deaths was induced by injuries sustained during an accident and no traces of any act of strangulation or any other deliberate murder attempt has been found.

Earlier, Senior Superintendent of Police (City) AP Tiwari told media persons that although they have received the autopsy report of the victims, it would have to be corroborated with the findings of the forensic experts from the crime scene before sharing it with media.

Meanwhile, family members of the two victims of the recent Azara incident today deposed before Magistrate Bijoya Choudhury, who is inquiring into the incident.

The inquiry report will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on November 15, sources said.
