UDALGURI, Dec 5 - In yet another incident, a Higher Secondary first year student became easy target of yet-to-be identified motorcycle-borne miscreants near the Sacred Heart School here under Udalguri Police Station at around 7.30 pm on Monday.
According to sources, while Divya Das, a resident of Udalguri town was walking home with her friend, two motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants pelted stones at the girl and fled under the cover of darkness.
In the sudden incident, Divya Das(16), a Science stream student of Ranjit Sarmah Academy of Mangaldoi sustained serious injury on her head and was immediately rushed to the Udalguri Civil Hospital. The Udalguri police subsequently rushed to the spot and started investigation.
It may perhaps be pertinent to mention here that there were similar incidents of stone pelting in recent times following which several persons in the town sustained injuries. However, police is yet to apprehend culprits behind this crime.
