DOOMDOOMA, May 30 - A girl named Dharitri Deka Baruah (17) drowned when she went to take a bath in the Dhola river at Bormurah Miripathar village under Dhola PS on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Dharitri went to the river to take a bath along with two other girls of the village � Rita Murah (21) and Monima Gohain (19). But all the three girls were swept away by the strong currents of the river.
Witnessing the incident, four boys of the village � Dhan Urang (10), Naga Urang (12), Vishal Kurmi (10) and Chutu Murah (15) � jumped into the river and rescued Rita and Monima. But Dharitri was drowned. Her body was later recovered from the river. Dharitri passed the HSLC examination this year from Saikhowa HS School in second division.
