GeM launched in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Sept 19 - Meghalaya Chief Secretary Y Tsering launched the National Mission on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) here today saying the online marketplace would make procurement simpler and transparent.

Addressing during the launch, Tsering said GeM will not only make public procurement simpler and transparent, but will also provide a platform for all the startup entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups and vendors of the State to promote and sell their products.

GeM is the National Public Procurement Portal to facilitate online procurement of common Goods and Services required by various Government Departments, Organisations and Public Sector Units.

GeM aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. It provides the tools of e-bidding, reverse e-auction and demand aggregation to facilitate the government users, achieve the best value for their money.
